Material Girl Consulting
What We Do
Would your book make a killer movie? Have you tried to adapt it yourself, only to be confused and overwhelmed by the structural and format differences between novels and films? Ever considered hiring someone to write it for you, only to be stunned by the staggering cost? Why pay someone else to write what you know best?
Material Girl offers a unique consulting experience in page-to-screen film adaptations. What makes unique (and, um, better)? We read your IP before even considering the screenplay. Most screenplay consultants only read what you’ve written in screenplay format, which limits their ability to understand the world you’ve created.
By reading your novel before looking at your screenplay, we become experts on your voice. Then, through a series of check-ins, we help you nail screenplay structure, visual storytelling, and dialogue for film; to ensure that your content makes its transition from page to screen in your voice- and on your terms.
What We Offer
We read your novel. We read your screenplay – in whatever stage it currently exists. We do an hour-long phone or zoom consult. You’ll get all the notes required to take another pass at it, but this time, you’ll have received the guidance of an expert. Because we’ll also be fluent in the the universe you’ve created in the novel, we can help you determine which aspects of your book will make your screenplay the most exciting, and marketable. When your draft is completed, on a mutually agreed upon deadline, we’ll do a final notes session, and you’ll have what you need to keep going, or to start submitting it.
What We Charge
For the entire process above: $1500: half when we start, half when we finish.
Want to keep revising after the process, and keep getting notes? $200/hour.
Just want notes on your script to start with? $200/hour.
